Well, a simply lovely afternoon today. I met my mother for lunch following my morning' at work, after which we walked our not-so-little feet off for a couple of hours looking for a slightly belated birthday gift for me and at a blouse she was hankering after.
Both missions were accomplished and my also a bit belated mothers' day gift to her given and fortunately liked very much...
Now back to one of my thoughts of last night:- i.e. how the area of London I live in is evolving. Apart from the demographic change - very welcome - with many young families moving in, there are also some cool small shops entering:- e.g. a sweet flower shop run by an energetic and friendly woman who had, till she took the ex-barber shop premises on, traded her flowers and plants at stalls in nearby locations. She has painted the shop front pink and puts flowers and plants outside on the pavement - a really lovely addition to the area near the station. The little knitting shop which opened - I believe - only last year, is also really cute and last but not least, there is an excellent decor/furniture shop stocking interesting pieces ranging from chrome lamps to danish furniture of the 50's/60's.
All in all, the place is becoming more vibrant, deservedly so in my humble opinion. There is one park with a Victorian walled garden right opposite the railway station and another beautiful park is a matter of 12 minutes walk away ! (not to mention an art gallery whose collection is small but pretty impressive (where I worked on a couple of occasions).. Hooray for ***** **** !
